We are thrilled to announce that the Muncie Symphony Orchestra is partnering with Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute to present Link Up: The Orchestra Sings for our 2022 Young People’s Concert. This concert, which is free for 4th and 5th grade school groups, will explore how composers create great melodies with selections such as “Ode to Joy”, “Firebird Suite,” “Simple Gifts,” and more. The MSO is proud to offer an annual educational concert as an introduction to the orchestra for our east-central Indiana community!
About Link Up
Link Up is a highly participatory music education program which connects the concert hall and the classroom in a real and tangible way. Participating music teachers implement the Link Up curriculum through the school year leading up to a culminating concert, in which the students will join the orchestra by singing and playing recorder from their seats. Schools will receive teacher guides, student workbooks, recorders if needed, and professional development support at no cost. The culminating concert will take place on Friday, May 20, at 10 am in Emens Auditorium.
Because of the participatory nature of this program, advance registration is required. The deadline to register in order to have materials ready for the start of the spring semester is November 30. Teachers interested in adopting the Link Up program and bringing their students on May 20 should fill out our registration form:
Please contact Dr. James Thompson at 765-216-0970 for additional information regarding the Link Up program and our other educational offerings.
